 4. Evidence Based Programs, Curricula, and Practices

Michigan Model for Comprehensive School Health Education®  curriculum facilitates interdisciplinary learning through lessons that integrate health education into other curricula, including language arts, social studies, science, math and art. Teacher training in the implementation of the Model ensures that students and their schools as a whole get maximum benefits from this carefully structured program. 

 

Michigan Model for Comprehensive School Health Education Objectives and will focus on violence prevention, bullying and harrassment.

 

Training Objectives:

• Understand the philosophy and comprehensive nature of the Michigan Model for  Comprehensive School Health Education®

• Review essential health skills.

• Identify and understand the steps to skills-based instruction.

• Identify teaching skills and strategies for effective implementation of skills-based instruction.

• Explore the teaching strategies and skills used in each module.

• Review the objectives and lessons of the various modules

• Discuss and practice effective teaching strategies used in the curriculum.

• Review the materials needed to implement the curriculum and identify how to access them.

• Share expertise.

• Enjoy learning together.

 

 At the completion of the training, you will receive a certificate for the number of course hours you participated.  Following this training we will be available for technical assistance by phone or e-mail.  Site visits and workshops can also be arranged for implementation of the other modules. The Teacher Training Workshop of the

 

The MA law directs the Department of Education to compile, post, and periodically update a list of bullying prevention and intervention resources, evidence-based curricula, best practices and academic-based research. .. Local education officials should determine which bullying prevention curricula and strategies are most appropriate for each school and grade they oversee, taking into account students' developmental stages, community contexts, and other factors.

The following bullying prevention and intervention programs, curricula, and practices are research/evidence based, as identified by the Regional Educational Laboratory Northeast and Islands at EDC, at the request of the Department.
